In-Person Confident Parenting and Baby First Aid Course

Professional advice on helping you cope with caring for your newborn baby

Are you a new parent feeling overwhelmed and unsure about how to care for your newborn baby? Look no further! Join our practical course and empower yourself with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the best care for your baby.

Week One, Confident Parenting is designed to help you prepare for taking care of yourself and your baby during your pregnancy.

Many parents feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities of parenting, but with proper preparation, it can be manageable. While you may have already chosen items for your baby, such as a cot, moses basket, and clothes, it is important to also be prepared for the actual care of your baby. Midwives will offer support and advice after the birth, but it can be difficult to remember everything. Additionally, conflicting advice from loved ones can be confusing. The course is split into two parts, with the theory portion available for FREE through the ‘Parents Online courses’ tab, followed by this in-person practical course. This course can be attended at any time during your pregnancy and will be beneficial in planning your care and recovery after birth. You will learn important skills such as how to hold your baby safely, bathe them, change their clothes and nappies, properly secure a child seat, and other necessary information. This part of the course is also enjoyable.

Week Two Baby First Aid. I have a qualification in Paediatric First Aid, and this qualification exceeds the syllabus requirements outlined Ofsted and the Early Learning Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Gain the confidence to handle any potential situation with ease, and acquire the skills to administer first aid to your baby if necessary. In just two hours, we will cover essential topics in a relaxed and friendly setting. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn the necessary techniques to protect your baby. This course encompasses: Proper hygiene in first aid, how to handle an unconscious baby, recovery position for infants, CPR for infants, head injuries, febrile seizures, choking in babies, anaphylaxis and shock, poisons, meningitis awareness, burns, bleeding and bandaging, managing temperatures, and epilepsy and convulsions.

The venue for the course is the Seminar Room at Cossham Hospital, and you can book your place from my booking page.
